Body Of Missing Kayaker Found In GSMNP
Park Rangers in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Monday found the body of a missing kayaker. The body of 61 year old Carl Keany of Knoxville was found not far from where he had went under the water on Friday. It was Friday at about 3:40pm park officials were first called about a kayaker near The Sinks on the Little River that had went under the water and never resurfaced. High water levels from last week’s rains had made recovery efforts difficult, but water levels receded on Monday allowing park rangers to find Carl Keaney’s body. Emergency personnel from Townsend Fire Department, Blount Special Operations Response Team, and American Medical Response (AMR) assisted Great Smoky Mountains National Park rangers. AMR transported Keany to the Blount County Medical Examiner’s office.
