Break-In Calls Prove Bogus
Newport police were dispatched to two different calls over the weekend about a break-in or people trying to get into homes. The first happened Friday when 32 year old Troy Mowery called 911 saying that someone was in his house. Police checked and found no one inside the home on Old Knoxville Hwy. Mowery called 911 several more times saying that people were trying to get into his home, but each time police checked they found no one. Mowery was finally arrested for disorderly conduct.
Then on Sunday, police had to be dispatched to a home on Woodlawn Avenue as 35 year old Christopher McFalls stated that he observed multiple armed men break in the back door of his residence and believed they had left the area but were lying in the field behind his house acting as “snipers.” The home was checked and found to be clear of anyone suspicious. McFalls was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
