Busy Weekend Around The Area
Two weeks ago was Labor Day weekend. That is generally considered the final weekend of summer. But…this weekend is the true final weekend of summer and there is a lot going on. The Tennessee Vols are at home tomorrow night (tonight) to face the Akron Zips. The Vols are a 47 1/2 point favorite in that game. Up in Bristol is the Bristol Night Race, which you can hear tomorrow night right here on 92.3 WNPC.
There is also the Hope House of Cocke County’s “Fall Into Mud Run” in Bybee tomorrow with the Mighty Mudder 5k and the Mini Mudder for kids…registration and information is available at hopehouseofcockecounty.org.
There is the Brushy Mountain Bear Club’s Fish Fry going on at the Bear Club Pavillion in Del Rio at 1426 Round Mountain Road. That’s from 11-4 tomorrow…Entertainment being provided by Big Creek Blue Grass Band.
The Cocke County Emergency Responder’s Association is hosting their second annual First Responder’s Day out at the Cocke County Fairgrounds from 10-2 tomorrow. First responders from Newport and Cocke County police departments as well as volunteer fire departments will be on hand. Lots of equipment such as helicopters, police cruisers as well as K-9’s on hand…
And the Pigeon Forge Rod Run started yesterday and continues today through Saturday. The car show is at the Leconte Center but there will be all sorts of cars and trucks to see there this weekend…and the special guests at the Rod Run this year are Donny Most & Anson Williams…Ralph Malph and Potsie Weber from the 1970’s hit tv show “Happy Days”. The two actors are at the Leconte Center today from 9a-noon and 1:30p-3:30p and from 9a-noon on Saturday.
If you can’t find something to do this weekend…you are not looking.
