Bybe Man found In River In GSMNP
A Cocke County man was found dead Monday in the national park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park rangers responded to a report of a body in Little River approximately 1-mile west of Metcalf Bottoms Monday afternoon. Park Rangers, along with Gatlinburg EMS/Fire discovered the body of 72 year old Charles Queen of Bybee partially submerged in the middle of the river. A technical swiftwater rescue team recovered the body. A vehicle, registered to Mr. Queen, was located in a pull out about 600 feet upriver along a steep embankment. Authorities say there were no witnesses found to what happened but there were no obvious signs of foul play. The Sevier County Medical Examiner’s office took the body and is performing an autopsy.
