CCSO Investigating Homicide

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office is investigating the death of a woman found in a home on Battle Road Tuesday night. The death has been ruled a homicide. According to a release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called around 8pm Tuesday night to the home at 599 Battle Road in Newport. A woman, 36 year old Polly Fox, had called 911 saying she found her mother deceased inside the home. Deputies found Ola Schumacher lying on the floor with what appeared to be a deep cut to her throat.

Detectives were called to the scene and the preliminary investigation has led to Polly Fox along with 35 year old Rayanna Kenne being charged with first degree murder. The two woman are also being charged with tampering with evidence. The body of Ola Schumacher has been taken to the Knoxville Forensics Center for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. Sheriff CJ Ball called this an extreme tragedy for the community and that detectives are still working the case. More information will be released at a later time.
