CCSO Investigating Weekend Homicide

The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened over the weekend. Deputies responded to a call at 1403 Arlis Road in Newport shortly before 5:30pm on Saturday, December 7th. Deputies found a 52 year old woman dead in a bedroom at that residence. Detectives were called to the scene and found the victim had been stabbed to death in her home.

Sheriff CJ Ball says there is a person of interest in that homicide, but no one has been arrested at this time. No further information, including the name of the victim, is being released at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
