Child Nearly Drowns In Jefferson County

A tragic situation in Jefferson County over the weekend. Police were called to a home in New Market where a 23 month old child nearly drowned in a swimming pool. Family members at the home on Mountain Meadows Drive could not find the child, but located the child in the swimming pool and were performing CPR when deputies arrived and took over CPR until EMS personnel arrived. The child was stabilized and then transported to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville where the child remains in Critical Condition. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is investigating that incident.
