Child’s Birthday Party Leads To Arrest
What was supposed to be a happy occasion, a child’s birthday party in the Edwina Bridgeport community, wound up in the arrest of three individual from Greeneville. 72 year old Charles Cain, who owns the home where the party was held told police that he needed to leave the residence as he was having issues with his pacemaker. He asked 21 year old Trenton Manuel to move his vehicle because it was blocking in Cain’s only transportation from the residence. However Manuel refused, so Cain says he went inside and spoke with Lacy Hammons about moving that vehicle, she refused as well. Cain says whn he walked out of the room with her, Manuel struck him from behind and continued punching him causing him to fall to the floor. Injuries observed by police were consistent with his story, as Manuel and Hammons had told police a slightly different version of events earlier.
Shortly after police arrested Manuel and Hammons for assault, Hammons’ father, 48 year old Michael McBee of Greeneville called the Cain’s home and stated he was going to bail out his daughter and then come shoot Charles Cain, plus threatened violence against Cain’s wife, Helen. McBee was found by Cocke County deputies and was taken into custody. Deputies found a Taurus 9mm handgun in the driver’s side door of his vehicle giving him the means to act upon his threat. He was charged with aggravated assault.
