City Council Approves Garbage Trucks Plus Reviews Bicycle Path Plan
When the city of Newport comes to pick up trash it will soon be in new trucks. Last night at the Newport City Council meeting, the city approved the purchase of two new garbage trucks to replace the old ones being used currently by the city.
The city council also gave the approval to purchase 2 more buildings in their storage site located at Jefferson & Park street.
Also at the city council meeting last night, members reviewed a plan provided by the state of Tennessee that would install both bicycle and foot paths along the main roads, mainly along Broadway in downtown Newport then going along Cosby Highway eventually extending all the way across I-40 ending at Wal-Mart.
The next meeting for the Newport City Council will be Tuesday August 10th.
