CLB Seat Still In A Tie After Provisional Ballot

The CLB seat that was left undecided last Thursday night is now in the hands of the CLB. Tuesday, the Cocke County Election Commission counted provisional ballots. Those are ballots that were cast by voters who forgot their ID or were not properly registered. There were seven of those ballots and one was from the third CLB District. That ballot did not change anything. Terry Dawson & Tracy Stepp are still as they were after the votes were tallied the night of August 4th. They each still sit with 420 votes.

So, what comes next? The County Legislative Body now takes over. The CLB can either choose to vote themselves between Dawson & Stepp to fill that seat…or…they can vote to pass a resolution to have a run-off election between the two candidates. The next CLB meeting is Monday, August 15th at 6pm.
