Cocke County Deputy Completes Intense Training
A Cocke County Deputy has completed training that makes her a first for the county. Deputy Miranda Williams recently underwent two weeks of intense training and is now the first Cocke County deputy to become a DRE or Drug Recognition Expert. Sheriff CJ Ball says it is by far the hardest training an officer can attend. Earlier this year, Deputy Williams completed Driving Under the Influence Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, along with ARIDE Training…ARIDE is the acronym for Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement. That is a course that is taught by DRE instructors…The ARIDE course trains law enforcement officers to observe, identify, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs, alcohol or a combination of both, in order to reduce the number of impaired drivers and impaired driving related traffic collisions. So congratulations to Deputy Williams.
