Cocke County Man Charged Aggravated Assault

A Cocke County man has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon after police say he fired a shot at his wife. Arda Cordero told deputies that her husband, 50 year old Milton Cordero called her Saturday while she was on her way home and told her she had a time limit to get there. When she arrived, angered, Milton Cordero fired a shot from a .22 pistol at her, which missed and lodged into the wall. She was able to escape to the outdoors and call 911. The couple’s son told deputies he heard his mother scream and then heard the gunshot. Deputies found the weapon, which jammed after the first shot, making it impossible for Cordero to firs a second shot immediately. Police contacted Milton Cordero inside his home via his phone. He told them he would be standing in the kitchen with his hands raised. Cordero was taken into custody without incident. He told deputies, he grabbed his gun and as he was sitting up the gun misfired.
