Cocke County Man Indicted For Tenn Care Fraud

A Cocke County man has been indicted after a TBI investigation into Tenn Care fraud. 72-year-old Reese Thorton was arrested on Monday after being indicted by a Cocke County Grand Jury on one count of TennCare Fraud, one count of Theft over $1,000, and one count of Violation of the Tennessee Personal and Commercial Computer Act. Accorfding to the TBI’s investigation, between December 2022 and September 2023, Thorton, while being paid by a TennCare-managed contractor to serve as a caregiver for an adult relative, submitted claims for services thast were never provided. Thornton was booked into jail Monday. His bond was set at $7500. Tenn Care fraud is a class D felony.
