Cocke County Officials Discussing County-Wide Notification System

In then aftermath of flooding from tropical Storm Fred on Tuesday night & early Wednesday morning…Cocke County officials are discussing implementing a county-wide notification system. County mayor Crystal Ottinger says that the county actually began having discussions about implementing such a system earlier this year. A county-wide notification system would allow the county to get an evacuation or emergency alert out to the entire county faster. Tuesday night, officials were going door-to-door to get people evacuated and away from flood waters. 100 people were forced to leave their homes during the flooding…those people were all cleared to return to their homes by yesterday afternoon as waters receded.
