Cocke County Sheriff’s Office Receiving Grants
The Grant Writer for the Cocke County Sheriff’s office has been very busy lately…and that is a good thing. Last month alone the sheriff’s office received a $40,000.00 grant for DUI and Traffic Enforcement, a $20,000.00 coordinator grant, and a $10,000.00 teen grant. That grant is to add equipment to the local high schools for teen driving safety.
This week the Cocke County sheriff’s office wrote for two more grants…The first grant applied for is the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for $85,000.00. This grant will help our department receive the necessary equipment to keep them safe. This grant is an equipment grant only and can be used for body cams, in-car cams, firearms if needed, and other equipment that will help aid them in their job.
The second grant that our agency applied for is the Small, Rural, Tribal Body Worn Camera Grant for $70,000.00. That grant would help the department continue to purchase top of the line body cams for all departments in the sheriff’s office including the jail.
