Cocke County Students Return To Class

Cocke County students returned to classrooms today as school was back in session for the Cocke County School District. One of the changes that students are having to get used to in classrooms this year, no cell phones. Earlier this year, the state legislature passed a ban on cell phones in class during times of learning. That also goes for smart watches as well. The goal is to improve student performance in class as one of the main distractions for students is eliminated.

Drivers having to get used to obeying those school zones, as they are active once again for the first time since May. Newport Grammar School students did not go back to school. Their first day comes next week on Wednesday, August 6. That will be a short day with dismissal at 10am. No school on Thursday August 7 as that is a Teacher Work Day. The first full day of classes for Newport Grammar School is next Friday, August 8.
