Cocke County Tree Day Celebration March 11th
This Saturday, March 11 is the Cocke County Tree Day Celebration with the Cocke County Soil Conservation District, The National Resource Conservation Service, The National Division of Forestry and the TVA. On Saturday from 8am-noon, those agencies will be providing information to residents about the importance of native trees and shrubs in Cocke County at the Soil Conservation District office on Hwy 73. All who attend will have the opportunity to choose from several selected bundles of native trees and shrubs. Those native trees include Chickasaw Plum, Pecan, American Plum, Crabapple, Swamp White Oak, Persimmon, Redbud and Dogwood. Some of the native shrubs include Indigobush, Oakleaf Hydrangea and American Hazelnut. Those will be available Saturday morning while supplies last.
