Cocke County Woman Was Victim In Anderson County Homicide
A Cocke County Woman was the victim in an Anderson County homicide earlier this week. Anderson County authorities say that 38 year old Shysti Renea Mayberry was shot and killed around 1pm Tuesday afternoon after she got out of a car. That homicide spurred a manhunt for the suspect that is now in its third day. The Anderson County Sheriff’s office says that 44 year old Jason Dockery shot Mayberry after she exited his vehicle. A 2 year old child may have been in the car at the time of the shooting, as Dockery dropped that child off on a front porch as he was fleeing the area.
Jason Dockery has an extensive criminal history in Knox, Anderson and Sevier counties and has spent time in the custody of the Department of Corrections in the past. He is wanted in Sevier County currently for probation violation on an assault charge. Polcie say that Dockery fled to Union County Tuesday before traveling into Claiborne County and then Lee County Virginia. Wednesday night, Lee County authorities say they believed that Dockery had hitched a ride out of Lee County and back to Tennessee. They say the person giving him a ride was probably unaware of the manhunt for him. The US Marshals service has confirmed that Dockery found a ride out of Lee County Virginia and was taken to the Union County area.
U.S. Marshals say Dockery could be reaching out to contacts for help in East Tennessee, especially in Union County. The US Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Jason Dockery is a white male, 5′ 6″ tall and weighs 170 lbs. Authorities say he should be considered extremely dangerous.
