Cocke County’s New Sheriff In School
Cocke County’s new sheriff, CJ Ball, has spent the last week around Nashville. It’s not a leisure trip though, it’s all business. All newly elected sheriff’s in the state of Tennessee are required to undergo 80 hours of training at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. It’s a two week class and the first part was held in Nashville last week. The final week this week, the sheriff’s have been in Murfreesboro. Ball says this week has centered around the detention centers and what requirements the Tennessee Corrections Institute demands. Sheriff Ball says there will be lots of changes coming for the Cocke County jail…even though the jail at this point is undermanned. Twenty-Two other new sheriff’s are undergoing the training in middle Tennessee this week.
