Cocke, Sevier & Greene County Residents Urged To Conserve Water
Cocke County, Sevier County and Greene County are all asking residents to conserve water as much as possible. In Greeneville, the pumps that provide that area with water were destroyed by the flood waters. Restaurants and non-essential businesses have been ordered to shut down to conserve water as there is a fear that they will run out of water in their system, so it is a dire situation in Greene County. The Greene County and Tennessee Emergency Management Agencies are currently setting up distribution stations for bottled water for those in Greene County. In Cocke County, the situation is not as bad, but Newport Utilities is urging all customers to reduce water consumption to only necessary activity for the next 24 hours in order to conserve water storage and prevent a situation similar to what is going on in Greene County. Sevier County is asking their residents to do the same.
