Covid Cases Trending Downward After Spike
Covid continues to be prevalent around the area, although case numbers are beginning to drop. There has been about a 20% drop in the number of cases statewide since the end of January. For the 2 week period ending yesterday, February 9th, there were 836 cases of Covid reported in Cocke County, with 4 deaths linked to the illness. Greene County continues to see the most cases of the adjoining counties with 2,318 cases reported for that 2 week period and 15 deaths. Hamblen County reports 1691 cases with 15 deaths. Jefferson County has 1581 cases with 9 deaths…and Sevier County 2,082 cases with 14 deaths. Blount County has really been hit hard reporting 4,296 cases for the 2 week period and 22 deaths attributed to Covid. While those numbers remain high, Covid cases are beginning to trend downward from the spike that happened in January.
