Daylight Savings Could Become Permanent
Are you still adjusting to the time change? We of course sprang forward on Sunday with Daylight Saving Time…a move to make daylight saving time permanent has been discussed for years in many states. However, that may be getting closer to reality. The US Senate has passed a bill that would put the US under daylight saving time permanently. Under that bill we would spring forward in March of 2024 and would not fall back into standard time ever again. There are some who see positives with such a move, such as having the extra daylight in the evening hours after work. Some though point out the negative is less daylight in the morning…which would mean most workers and school children would go to work and school in the dark most of the time. In fact, if daylight saving time were made permanent, in late December and January, the sun would not rise in this area till nearly 9 a.m. The bill to make daylight saving time permanent has to be approved by the house before going to President Biden. No word on when the house will take up that bill.
