Del Rio Man Arrested After Threatening To Burn Girlfriend
A Del Rio man is in jail after he threatened to set his girlfriend on fire. Cocke County officers responded to Long Branch Road Del Rio speaking with Brittany Baxter. The incident stated on Friday evening with Baxter calling police and telling them her boyfriend Luis Perez had seen her at the Hartford Citgo and tried talking to her. Baxter stated that Perez told her that he would pour gasoline on her and beat up her friend and light them on fire. Baxter said that Perez told her that he would kill her and didn’t care if he spent a life sentence in jail. At this time Baxter left the Citgo and came home. The Cocke County sheriff’s office was notified of that incident and issued an arrest warrant for Perez. Shortly after midnight Saturday, dispatch advised that Baxter called and said she was behind Perez on Big Creek Road and she was following him back to the residence. Officers responded back to the house and found both parties standing on the back porch. Perez was placed under arrest and transported to the Cocke County Detention to be booked in on two counts of domestic assault.
