Deputies Respond To Aggravated Assault Call
Deputies responded to a home on Highway 73 in Cocke County early Friday morning about an aggravated assault involving a firearm. the deputies arrived at the home around 3 am Friday and spoke with the victim, 450 year old Christopher Stewart. He informed deputies that he had been robbed by two male subjects, one that he recognized. He stated the two men pulled a gun on him and forced him to the ground, by striking him in the head with the gun, and then began picking his pockets. Stewart claimed the two men then walked him down to the door of the residence and he heard one of them say just shoot him. Stewart says that is when he dove inside across his bed and onto the floor, he heard a gunshot seconds later. Stewart said the suspects left in a black Toyota Camry but did not know what direction. Stewart provided deputies with the phone number for the suspect he recognized, but when asked to call the number or let deputies call the number, Stewart became irate, uncooperative and went inside his home slamming the door leaving deputies outside. No wounds could be seen on Stewart where he claimed he had been struck by the gun. There was also no other evidence of the assault. Deputies stated they did find one spent red 12 gauge shotgun shell, but it was lying on the pavement at the intersection of Day Road and Highway 73. No charges have been filed against anyone.
