Deputies Respond To Domestic Assault
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office responded to a home in Cosby over the weekend about a woman being held against her will. At the home on Tree Lane, 40 year old Christopher Mullin told the deputy that 43 year old Melinda Gentry had too much to drink, was intoxicated and he did not want her to leave in that state. An argument ensued between the two resulting in Mullin putting his hand through a bedroom door, leaving his hand bloody. Deputy Richard Hoover stated things inside the home had been thrown around like a struggle had taken place. A pizza cutter was observed in the kitchen sink, believed to be the tool that was used to cut marks on Mullin’s face. Melinda Gentry admitted to assaulting Mullin, in an attempt to get our of the house. She stated that at one point, Mullin picked her up outside and carried her back into the house. She stated that he also took her phone away so she could not call for help. both Mullin and Gentry were arrested. Mullin for false imprisonment and interfering with an emergency call. Gentry was charged with domestic assault.
