Details Released On Greene County Murder
The Greene County Sheriff’s office has released the report on the fatal shooting that happened in the Orebank Community on Saturday afternoon (10/14). According to the report the victim, John J. McCann was following Liam McDonald-Gagnon and McCann’s ex-girlfriend closely on Pates Hill Road. The two vehicles then turned onto Knight Hollow Lane and Gagnon stopped. He stated that McCann drove up to where they were and began being verbally aggressive shouting for Gagnon to “leave or he would declare war”. He also states McCann blocked in his vehicle and drove towards him and continued to be aggressive. Gagnon says at one point he pulled out his Smith & Wesson 40 caliber handgun and approached McCann’s drivers’ side door. He states they continued to argue and once McCann noticed the pistol in Gagnon’s hand he turned and reached towards his center console. Gagnon then says that is when he fired what he believed were 12 rounds at McCann, striking him several times. Gagnon stated he “dumped the mag.”
According to the woman in Gagnon’s vehicle, John J. McCann was her ex-boyfriend and moved to Tennessee with her. She stated they broke up about 2 months ago and he has been harassing and stalking her since, including showing up at her house several times and making threats. Investigators found an open Order Of Protection against McCann. Gagnon is currently being held on a $500,000 bond and is charged with second degree murder.
