Disaster Recovery Center Now Open In Cocke County
For those needing assistance in the aftermath of the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, a Disaster Recovery Center/Multi Agency Resource Center is now open in Cocke County. This resource center opened on Sunday. At the Disaster recovery Center you will find TEMA and FEMA along with other state and federal agencies including the Small Business Administration, Dept. of Human Services, East TN Human Resources Agency, Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development, the American Job Center, the Salvation Army and representatives for US Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Haggerty. The Disaster Recovery Center is located at the Cocke County Recreation Center, 466 Learning Road in Newport and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.There are message board signs on both Cosby Highway and West Broadway pointing the way to that center. There are two other such sites operating in the disaster area, those are in Jonesborough and Elizabethton.
