Disturbing Discovery On Padgett Mill Road

A disturbing discovery over the weekend on Padgett Mill Road in Cosby…the address is the site of Stillwater Sanctuary. The caretaker of the property, David Shults, told the Cocke County Sheriff’s office that he discovered the sanctuary’s black and white livestock guardian dog had been found shot dead near the fence of their field. More disturbing was that the stomach of the dog appeared to have been cut open to expose the ribs and the intestines were removed laying next to the dog. Shults stated it did not appear that an animal had caused the damage to the stomach and he was very concerned that the person who shot the dog was responsible. The property owners were notified. All of the other animals on the property were fine. There is no suspect as of yet in that incident.
