Driver Under The Influence Takes Out Redbox Machine

A Redbox movie rental machine was no match for a Chevy S10 pickup Wednesday. Newport police were called to Walgreen’s in Newport Wednesday evening as a woman had driven an S10 pickup into the front of the Redbox machine. 36 year old Jessica Green, who was under the influence of narcotics, told police that she was test driving the truck for a friend to see what was wrong with it. Green told officers she had taken several medications. Her drivers’ license had been revoked a dozen years ago in January of 2011 for failure to provide proof of insurance. The S10 pickup was not insured. That truck belonged to 49 year old Cindy Lilly, who was herself under the influence of drugs when she was spoken to by police. Jessica Green was charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license. Cindy Lilly was also charged with DUI by consent and public intoxication. No monetary estimate was given regarding the Redbox machine.
