Drugs Found In Roll Of Cash During Arrest

Police were called last Friday about a home on Woodlawn Avenue in Newport. Neighbors saying that there have been a lot of people coming and going from that home, which is in an area known to be a high drug traffic area. Inside that home, an officer spoke with Kayla Napier and 22 year old Marty Grooms. He was wanted for probation violation and was immediately taken into custody. While being apprehended, Grooms tried to pass a roll of money to Napier. That roll of money included numerous twenties and one dollar bills. Also rolled up in the wad of cash were bags containing 3 grams of methamphetamine and 3 grams of heroin.

Grooms is now charged with Manufacture, Sell or Delivery of both Schedule I and II narcotics along with his Probation Violation warrant.
