Early Voting Begins With Record Turnout

A record number of voters turned out for the first day of early voting on Wednesday. In fact, Cocke County set a record for early voting as 1,161 registered voters cast their ballot during the first day of early voting. Cocke County Administer of Elections, Josh Blanchard, says that sets a record for the most ballots cast in one day during early voting. Along with absentee ballots turned in at this point, total turnout for the election so far is 1,343.

The early voting site is open again today at 9am. Hours are Monday through Friday 9am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-noon. The final two days of early voting, October 30 & 31, will have extended hours from 9am-6pm. The early voting site is located in the Western Plaza Shopping Center on west Broadway in Newport.
