Early Voting Ends
Early voting for the March 5 primary election is now over. Tuesday was the last day for early voting. The last two days were the busiest. On Monday, 356 took advantage of early voting. That number increased though to 384 for the final day on Tuesday, making it the busiest day at nthe early voting site in the Western Plaza Shopping Center. When you add in absentee ballots that have been received, there are 2500 voters who have cast their ballots early in Cocke County.
If you did not vote early, you will need to go to your local voting precinct next Tuesday, March 5 to make your voice heard. This election is the Presidential Preference Primary for the Republican and Democrat partiies. On the republican ballot is the race for Cocke County Assessor of Property between current office holder Macie Reed and her challenger Barry Huffines. There is no one running for Assessor of Property on the Democrat ticket, so the winner of the republican primary will win that office.
Polls will be open from 9am-8pm next Tuesday. If you do not know where your local precinct is, you can find out by going to the website cockecountyelections.org. All absentee ballots must be received at the elections office by 8pm on March 5.
