Earthquake Registers 2.4 Magnitude
The ground shook briefly in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake struck in the park Sunday night and registered as a 2.4 magnitude quake on the Richter scale. The earthquake was centered about 6 miles southwest of Gatlinburg and was at a depth of 1.1 miles. So far, there have not been any reports of anyone feeling that earthquake. This is the latest in what had been a busy time of seismic activity in the East Tennessee, Western North Carolina area.
