Election Day Today

Today is election day. Polls will open in a few hours at 9 am. Polls will be open till 8pm tonight. If you are in line to vote at 8 tonight, you will be allowed to cast your vote.

This is the federal mid-term election. Neither of Tennessee’s US Senators are up for election this year, however the US Representative is. Diana Harshbarger, the incumbent is facing three challengers including democrat nominee, Cameron Parsons.

This is the city elections for Newport and Parrottsville. There are 8 candidates for five seats on the Newport City Council. That is the main race we will be watching. Mayor Roland Dykes of Newport is running unopposed.

This is also the gubernatorial election…Governor Bill lee, facing the democrat challenger Dr. Jason Martin.

What will take you a little time are the four constitutional amendments. You can read those amendments on the Cocke County Elections Commission’s webpage. Those are a straight yes or no vote.
