First Day Hikes at TN State Parks
Tennessee State Parks wants you to take a hike in 2022. To ring in the new year, Tennessee State Parks are promoting “First Day Hikes” at various parks across the state. The hikes will take place on January 1st…The parks service says the hikes are designed for all ages and abilities and will give you an opportunity to start your New Year’s resolution or just enjoy the beauty of nature in Tennessee’s state parks. Hikers are urged to prepare for the weather, have sturdy footwear, and bring water and snacks. Two of those hikes are within a short drive of Cocke County…one is Panther Creek State Park in Hamblen County and the other is the Seven Islands State Birding Park in Knox County…you see the sign for that one on I-40. The park service reminds you that Tennessee’s parks are open 365 days a year, and Tennessee State Parks has more than 1,000 miles of trails.
