Food City Victim Of Skimmers

If you shopped at the Food city location in Gatlinburg recently, you need to watch your bank or credit card statements closely. Food City says that three of their stores were recently hit by scammers that placed skimmers on some of the cash register credit card scanners. The store in Gatlinburg was one of the locations affected. Anyone who shopped at that Food City between April 9 & April 14 should take notice. The scammers also attacked the Kodak Food City between April 9 and 17th. A skimmer records information from the magnetic stripe of a debit or credit card that is swiped through that credit card scanning device. Thieves then came back and retrieve the skimmer to get the information from the cards that have been swiped. These skimmers only affected credit or debit cards that had been swiped, not cards that use the chip. In this case, when the scammers came back to retrieve the skimmers, they were taken into custody as law enforcement was able to identify them from security camera footage taken at the cash register.
