Former Assistant DA Pleads Guilty
A former Washington County Assistant District Attorney has plead guilty to charges that he traded sex for dismissal of charges. Back in December of 2018, prosecutors charge that 50 year old William E. McManus, Jr. dismissed charges of shoplifting and meth possession against a female suspect in exchange for a commercial sex act…according to documents he had engaged in commercial sex acts with the same woman prior to the bribery.
On Tuesday in federal court in Greeneville, McManus plead guilty to that charge…his sentencing has been set for November 15 of this year…McManus could receive up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
