Former Greene County School Bookkeeper Indicted
A former bookkeeper within the Greene County school system has been indicted on theft charges. Investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller’s office say that between July 2016 and July 2019…Shenna Waddell who worked as a bookkeeper at West Greene High School stole at least $7,571. Investigators say that Waddell stole the money when she did not deposit money she collected into the high school bank account. She covered the thefts by altering transactions in the school’s accounting system. She also edited receipts…dating them for months after the money was collected. Waddell was fired from her job 2 years ago on July 25th, 2019 after school officials became suspicious and reported questionable transactions to the Comptrollers’ office. Officials say that there could be more money that Waddell stole…but numerous records and receipts were not maintained.
