Free Hunting Day This Saturday
This Saturday is the Annual Free Hunting Day in Tennessee. The TWRA sets aside one day each year where residents can hunt without a license. It is an effort to promote the sport of hunting in the state and Saturday marks the start of squirrel season in Tennessee. The TWRA says that on August 27th, you do not need a license to hunt in the state, but does ask that those participating have their hunters’ education course completed. Children under the age of 10 do not need a hunter education certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age. Hunting in Tennessee begins a half-hour before sunrise and ends a half-hour after sunset. For more information you can visit tnwildlife.org.
