Gas Prices Drop Below $3 A Gallon

We are seeing gas prices dropping in Cocke County. Over the last week we have seen some locations drop below $3 for a gallon of regular. Most stations on the west side of Newport near exit 432 are now under $3, with stations at exit 435 right around the $3 mark. Cocke County though has some of the highest prices around the area. Greene County average price is $2.79. Jefferson County is $2.95. Sevier County has the cheapest prices in the area with an average price of $2.72.

Average price in Tennessee is $2.95, that’s among the lowest prices in the nation. There are some stations in middle and west Tennessee that are as low as $2.49.

The national average remains well over $3 a gallon at $3.36. The cheapest is in Texas at $2.80, Georgia among the lowest at $2.84. California has the highest prices in the nation at $5.07. That’s is the only state that has gas over $5. Hawaii is the next highest at $4.73.
