Governor Bill Lee Names New Head Of TDOC
Governor Bill Lee on Wednesday appointed a new head of the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Lee appointed Frank Strada yesterday to replace Lisa Helton in that position. The Department of Corrections has come under fire when it was found out that the department was not following its own protocols regarding the testing of the drugs used in lethal injections in the state. Governor Bill Lee put on hold all executions in the state until a study could be done regarding those protocols. That report was released a couple weeks ago. Frank Strada currently serves as the Deputy Director for the Arizona Department of Corrections, where he oversees prison operations, inmate programs, public affairs, facilities management and financial services. He brings 34 years of corrections management and law enforcement experience to Tennessee’s Department of Corrections which includes nearly 30 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Frank Strada will step into his new job on January 9th.
