Greene County Man Dead In House Fire
A man is dead after a house fire in Greene County. the fire broke out at a home on Doc Hawkins Rd. Sunday morning around 1:30am. A woman called 911 after her smoke alarm had gone off inside the home. That woman was able to make it out safely. Numerous fire departments responded to that blaze including Greeneville, Fall Branch departments and the Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters brought that fire under control, but found a body inside the home. The deceased was identified as 76 year old Edward Viscardi. His body was found near the exit of the home, appearing that he was trying to get out of the burning structure. Viscardi’s remains were sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy and formal identification. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s bomb and arson division and the fire/arson investigator with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
