Groundbreaking For Next Attraction At Exit 407 In Sevier County
Buc-ees has announced the date for the opening of their new location off exit 407 on I-40. That date is Monday, June 5th. Buc-ees new 74,000 square foot store is just the beginning of what is coming to that exit in the next few years.
On Tuesday, Sevierville officials had a groundbreaking ceremony for a new attraction at exit 407 called Smoky Gap. It will be an entertainment district that is set in the early 1900s, and centers around a Main Street with Americana-themed storefronts and a large clocktower. There will be lots of entertainment, shops and restaurants with an early 1900’s vibe to transport you back to the good ol days. Smoky Gap is part of phase one of a development project called The 407: Gateway to Adventure. Buc-ees is the first business to open as part of phase one…there will also be a Courtyard Marriott Hotel as part of this opening phase as well. Smoky Gap is expected to be open in 2025.
The Eastern Band of the Cherokee is spearheading the development at exit 407 and is planning now for phase two which could include a sports themed resort as part of this over 200 acre development.
The development going on at exit 407 has prompted calls for an exit 408 off of I-40 to handle the all the extra traffic that Exit 407:Gateway To Adventure will be bringing to that area.
