GSMNP 2022 Visits Fall Short Of Record Setting 2021
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park did not see as many visitors in 2022 as they did when they set a record in 2021, but the Smokies are still the most visited national park in the US. Preliminary data for 2022 has been released and park officials say that just under 13 million people visited the national park last year…12,968,950 visitors to be exact. That falls short of the over 14 million that visited in that record setting year of 2021. As usual, the two most popular months to visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park were July and October…with October being the busiest month. 1,624,908 people visited the national park in October of 2022, while just over 1.5 million made the trek into the smokies in July of last year. The park says these numbers are the preliminary totals and the numbers will be finalized by the end of March.
