Hamblen County Approves Wheel Tax Increase

Hamblen County residents are gping to have a little less money when they pay for vehicle registration next year. Last week, the Hamblen County Commission approved the final reading of an increase in the county’s wheel tax. The vote to approve the increase was 10-3. The increase in funds from the wheel tax is to go solely for road improvements in the county. The $23 increase will take Hamblen County’s wheel tax from $27 to $50 beginning January 1st. With the Tennessee state renewal rate of $29, Hamblen County residents will be paying nearly $80 for car tags next year.
