Hargett Certifies Names For 2024 Presidential Primary Ballot
2024 is a big election year, as there is a presidential election along with state and federal representative elections. Tennessee’s primary falls on the same day that many other states hold their state primaries. It’s a day in March called Super Tuesday and in 2024 15 states will hold their primary on March 5.
On Wednesday, Secretary of State Tre Hargett certified the names of nine Republicans and one Democratic presidential candidate…that one democratic candidate is the current US President, Joe Biden. Of the nine names certified, two have officially dropped out of the race. Those being Doug Bergum and Asa Hutchinson. Among those still in the race for the republican nomination that will have their name on the ballot in Tennessee include former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald J. Trump.
Presidential Primary candidates have until Tuesday, Dec. 12 at noon to withdraw their name from the Tennessee ballot. Early voting for the March 5 primary begins on February 14 and runs through Feb. 27th.
