Hartford Road Fire Now at 65 Acres

The wildfire in Hartford continues to burn. The recent rain did have a little impact on that fire which is now 65 acres. It is still at 20% containment, but the forest service says that containment percentage should rise over the coming days.

Fire crews were on hand Wednesday trying to extinguish heat sources and looking for anything that could allow the fire to escape its boundaries.

Hartford Road remains closed at this time between Denton Road and Lindsey Gap Road. Debris is falling onto the road from the burned mountainsides making the closure of the road necessary for the safety of motorists.

Fire crews will be back on the scene today working on that fire. There is another wildfire in Cocke County. This is the Clifty Fire near Del Rio. It broke out on Wednesday and is now 9.3 acres.
