Haywood County NC Preparing For Ian
After getting hammered last August by the remnants of Hurricane Fred, our neighbors to the east in Haywood County, NC are getting prepared for the remanants of Hurricane Ian. Businesses around Waynesville are preparing to keep water out of their businesses this time. Residents that live in flood prone areas are making preperations as well. Most of North Carolina is expecting 2-5″ of rain, but the North Carolina mountains could see up to 7″ rain from this storm system.
Last August, the remnants of Hurricane Fred dropped heavy rainfall on Haywood County, catching many off guard. Six people died in flooding last year during that flood, most of them in the Cruso community southeast of Waynesville.
