High Speed Chase Across Three Counties Tuesday Morning
A traffic stop turned into a high speed chase that covered 3 counties and nearly 40 miles early this morning. A Greene County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on West Andrew Johnson Highway in Mosheim. There were several outstanding warrants against the driver. However the driver took off at a high rate of speed crossing into Hamblen County and onto I-81 south…crossing into Jefferson County and continuing onto I-40 west at speeds of up to 110 miles an hour. Law enforcement utilized spike strips at mile marker 415 on the west side of Dandridge. The strips were successful and that vehicle was finally stopped at mile marker 412. The driver was 59 year old Michael Morgan of Greeneville. He was driving on a revoked license due to failure to pay fines. He’s now charged with evading arrest as well.
