Industrial Development Board Meeting Wednesday

Tomorrow evening the Industrial Development Board will be meeting at Newport City Hall. It will be a busy meeting as several items are on the agenda…including giving final approval for the financial agreement between the city of Newport and Love’s Travel Center. That is in reference to the Love’s Travel Center Truck Stop to be built off I-40 at the 432 exit. That travel center would be located by the existing Comfort Inn off that exit. The recent removal of the left hand exit off I-40 to US25-70 east was done as part of the development plan for that truck stop. Plans for Love’s to build that travel center have been in the works for close to 3 years.

Also the board will be looking to give final approval to name the new Innovation Park as the Smoky Mountains Innovation park of Cocke County.
